Planters coming to Ireland
Queen Mary felt that by taking land from the O'Moores and the O'Conners she would:
- Punish the rebels for raiding the Pale.
- Make rebellion in Ireland undesirable.
- Obey English laws and rules
- Use the English language rather than the Irish language
Who were the Planters?
The planters and settlers were the English and Scottish people who traveled to Ireland. Irish people who had proven their loyalty during wars were also granted lands.
